MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL TIFFANY PHELPS

Patriotism is in the air as all of our students prepare for the Veteran's Day Assembly tomorrow.  Every grade level had a part in making this assembly special.  As I walked around campus today, I thought I would share some of what I heard from our students and what they contributed to making this a memorable day.

I asked them two questions:  What does Veterans Day mean to you?  How would you describe a Veteran?

Kindergarten-

"We celebrate the people that served our country."

"They are strong, helpful, and powerful."

And perhaps my favorite comment of the day…"They are so strong they can lift an abominable snowman."

* Each kindergarten student made a special necklace to commemorate the day.

First-

"We are celebrating our flag and learning about their stories"

"They are helpful, brave, and strong"

* First grade made hall patriotic hall decorations.

Second-

"We are honoring the people that serve and fight for us".

"They go in the air like my papa."

"They are loyal, our saviors, and wear camouflage."

* Second grade wrote letters to Veterans.

Third-

"We are recognizing the people who protect us"

"They sacrifice and are brave and strong."

* Third grade wrote thank you notes to the Veterans.

Fourth-

"We honor people that served our country, like my grandfather."

"We celebrate people that fought for us."

"They are heroic, loyal, brave, strong, and courageous"

* Fourth grade made a welcome banner.

Fifth-

"We honor the special people that gave their lives for what we have today."

"They leave the ones they love to fight for our freedom."

"I think of honor, love, sacrifice, and freedom."

* Fifth grade is taking the lead on the assembly and will be featured on the stage.

BCE is a buzzing with excitement!  We can't wait to see you all tomorrow at 9am in the cafeteria.

Barton Creek Baristas coffee cart service is up and running!

Barton Creek staff members were treated to either coffee, tea, or hot cocoa this morning. Students practiced their social and functional skills by maintaining eye contact and recording teacher orders, assisting in preparing beverages, delivering them and collecting Barton Creek Bucks as form of payment.

Special thanks to The Savino Family, The Suter Family and the BCE Booster club for making this happen with their generosity and support. We are so lucky to have such wonderful people in our lives to support our students.

5th grade KARDIVAS in Action...

The KARDIVAS took advantage of Tuesday's early release and planned retirement home visits.  They handed out candy bags and sang patriotic songs for a clapping and tearful audience.

Way to go girls!  We love that you took the SEL concepts you've learned to support our community.
