MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL PHELPS
BCE Families,
How is it possible that we only have 15 days left of school? FIFTEEN DAYS! I can't believe it. For 108 of our students, May 25th will mark the end of their time at BCE. This is a huge milestone for these 5th graders and I hope it's one filled with positive memories, lifelong friendships, and valuable learning experiences. For me personally, May 25th will mark the end of my first school year as the BCE Principal. 2017-2018 will always be special to me. It's been an absolute joy getting to watch your children learn and grow. I look forward to continuing this journey for many years to come.
As I was driving home yesterday, my daughter randomly says, "Mommy, I love school!" As a lifelong educator, of course I loved this statement. As a mother, it filled my heart. I know that one of the main reasons my children love school is because they are genuinely cared for by their teachers. For over 35 hours a week, they are challenged, listened to, and doted on by these very special people. I think it's reasonable to assume this is not an easy job. It's also not one that just anyone can do. For these reasons and so many more, I am grateful to be surrounded by such phenomenal educators.
The month of May is such a busy time of year, but this week has been very uplifting for the staff. The BCE community has completely outdone themselves for Teacher Appreciation Week. The pep rally, decorations, food, gifts, notes of kindness, etc. were incredible. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Thanks to those of you who have already completed the online student verification. The district has initiated this registration process much earlier than in past years. By completing the process earlier, we are able to plan school staffing and establish more efficient bus routes. Please complete this verification as soon as possible. EISD Elementary Summer Academy
When: June 4 – June 21, 2018 Monday – Thursday (12 days)
Where: Valley View Elementary
Registration due by Tuesday, May 15, 2018
The program is designed to support students who need additional help mastering grade level objectives in reading and math. Instruction will be based on individual student profiles provided by the student’s current classroom teacher.
