BCE Educator of the Year
Last night I had the honor of attending the EISD Employee and Retiree Recognition Dinner at Westlake High School. This event honored some of the district's remarkably talented and dedicated individuals. Barton Creek Elementary was well represented by our Speech Therapist, Andrea Hughes, who was chosen by her peers as BCE's Educator of the Year.

BCE Retirees
Please join us in celebrating three AMAZING educators and their retirement on Monday, May 21st at Barton Creek Elementary from 3:30-5:00pm. We will be honoring Linda Fredrickson- Librarian, Mo Greulich- GT Teacher, and John Linnell- P.E. Coach.
All current Blue Jays, former students, parents, staff, and community members are invited to attend this celebration. Please share and invite everyone who as been impacted and touched by these incredible educators!

Looking Ahead
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be taking STAAR tests the week of May 14, 2018. Thank you for ensuring your child arrives on time to allow for the classroom procedures to promptly begin in the morning. We will not have a Monday Morning Assembly. This assembly has been moved to the morning of May 18th.

Summer is fast approaching and it is time to start looking at Summer Camp possibilities.
If your child loves to write, please consider signing up for the Eanes Young Writers' Camp 2018. This is a camp where students have opportunities to explore their interests in writing in small groups and learn more about the craft of writing. Students who love to write, who seek feedback on their work, and would like to explore creative outlets for their craft would be great candidates for these workshops.
Our district offers writing camps for elementary, secondary, and college prep.
Attached you will find more information and registration forms for all of our writing camps. Registration is accessed through the Community Education website: eanes.augusoft.net. The deadline is May 25th.

EISD Elementary Summer Academy
When: June 4 – June 21, 2018 Monday – Thursday (12 days)
Where: Valley View Elementary
Registration due by Tuesday, May 15, 2018
The program is designed to support students who need additional help mastering grade level objectives in reading and math. Instruction will be based on individual student profiles provided by the student’s current classroom teacher.
