MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL PHELPS

BCE Families,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to the most recent survey. We are hard at work re-configuring classes based on your preferences.

I know a few of you love numbers so I am going to share a few with you:

  • 273 of our 518 students will be on campus beginning October 19
  • 53% of our campus population will be attending school in person
  • 245 students will remain in remote learning
  • 47% of our campus population will continue in remote learning
  • 64 students moved from remote to in person instruction
  • There will be a 13% increase in the number of students on campus beginning October 19

All changes will go into effect on Monday, October 19. We are in the process of determining what adjustments will need to happen within classrooms to accommodate the new numbers. We of course would like to keep everyone with their same teacher, but with the flux in numbers, in some cases, it may be necessary for students to move in order to maintain balanced class sizes. We will communicate with any families who are impacted early next week. We have complete confidence that our teachers will help transition our students with ease.

In the meantime, teachers will be preparing report cards .As you can imagine, some of the precision of student performance reporting has been more difficult to capture these 9-weeks, but we will do our best. We hope that the upcoming parent conferences will provide a more clear understanding of how your child performed this quarter.  Remember these will be via Zoom this year.  Since conferences are about 2 weeks after the close of the 1st grading period, some of you may have a new teacher. Rest assured that information will be provided by the former teacher to the new teacher.

Finally, Monday, October 12 is a student holiday. We hope you have a fun and relaxing three-day weekend.

In partnership,

Tiffany Phelps
