Educational Impact

Those who display leadership and commitment to the district by making a positive, noticeable and significant impact.

Jennifer Cheatham, Counselor
Ms. Cheatham is making an educational impact every day at BCE and in EISD!  She creates a positive and interactive learning environment when teaching social-emotional skills to students and the children look so forward to Ms. Cheatham's visits! She is someone who is making a difference by working one-on-one as well as with small groups of children for counseling. Her expertise on how to create a safe space for children is truly inspirational. Children know they can count on her to help them navigate situations they face. She’s also great at teaching teachers too - she has taught our staff SEL skills that we can use with students every day and it has been a wonderful resource. Thank you, Ms. Cheatham!

Ana Faulkenbery, CDC Infant teacher
From feedings to naps, to walks on the baby buggy, on the surface, it can be easy to underestimate the impact an infant teacher has in our school. Look deeper and you will see Ms. Faulkenbery goes above and beyond to impact her students’ and their families’ lives positively. Her adaptability, dedication, creativity, loving nature, calm demeanor and the connections she makes with infants is transforming. Her open-ended art projects using a variety of developmentally appropriate tools encourage brain development. Sensory bin exploration, songs and books are explored daily. Patience and love are two keywords to describe her. She rejoices with families when students experience success and she listens and acts when there are concerns. Parents can leave every morning knowing their baby is loved. It is for these reasons among many more that Ms. Faulkenbery deserves the BCE EANESpiration award.

Melissa Murray, 4th-grade teacher
Ms. Murray has a passion for teaching, the ability to make a positive impact on her students’ academic achievement, and emotional wellbeing while fostering social skills. She has an eagerness for teaching reading and writing and spends endless hours embracing and delivering curriculum to her students daily. She jumps into the revolving door of new teaching styles, philosophies and curriculum because she is always seeking better ways to improve her teaching. Just when you think she can't teach at a higher level, she raises the bar! Learning, laughter and love fill the air in her classroom. Not only is she an all-star teacher, but she is an amazing collaborative partner and we are so happy she is on our team!

Donna Roughton, Teacher Assistant
Ms. Roughton is, without question, one of the most capable, kind, and hardworking people at BCE. She has worked with many of her students since pre-school, and she expertly maintains a positive relationship with them while still holding them accountable. She always has excellent suggestions and works with a proactive approach.  Ms. Roughton has been invaluable to our classrooms and our campus. She always jokes that she loved the kids first, but we can all proclaim we love Ms. Roughton just as much!

Good Samaritan

One who displays compassion, selflessness, or courage by taking initiative.

Ali Schoppmann, Special Education Support Teacher
Ms. Schoppmann has made a tremendous impact on the BCE community this year. She organized a campus-wide CPR/First Aid training session for the staff. She also created a presentation for teachers to share with their students about how to help another person if they are choking. Ms. Schoppmann has been dedicated to creating opportunities for others to learn what to do in an emergency situation. She has gone above and beyond to make BCE a safer place and we thank her for that!

Heroes

Those who perform an outstanding achievement that brings prestige to Eanes ISD, or do something that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Carley McNicholas, Campus Permanent Sub
Ms. McNicholas immediately made an impact on our campus as a team player and a hard worker. She does everything she possibly can to help the staff and students and looks at each experience as a learning opportunity. She is always smiling no matter how difficult things get and maintains a positive attitude. When we leave our students in Ms. McNicholas's care, we know that they are safe and that their learning will continue. Ms. McNicolas is a huge asset to our campus and she makes BCE a better place!

Yolanda Ramirez, Head Custodian
Ms. Ramirez is crucial in making sure that BCE is taken care of day in and day out. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our school is well maintained and extremely clean. Not only does she take great pride in keeping our school organized and tidy, but she is also a very kind and positive staff member. She takes time out of her busy day to talk with fellow staff members and students. She is a joy to work with every day! Ms. Ramirez is very deserving of the Heroes Award for all that she does to make BCE a great place to be!

Innovation

Those who implement a creative or innovative program, teaching method, cost-savings, etc.

Alex Merritt, 4th-grade teacher & Hallie Shafer, Art teacher
Mr. Merritt and Ms. Shafer gave a fantastic presentation about the district’s new initiative, Universal Design for Learning. They spent an afternoon at BCE sharing informational slides about UDL as well as hands-on, interactive activities. With their help, staff was able to take the information about UDL and implement it into our classrooms. Their creative and innovative approach to teaching UDL to other teachers was impressive and much appreciated. Thank you, Mr. Merritt and Ms. Shafer for your time and expertise on UDL and teaching it to BCE's staff!
